Why the idea lab?

Anyone who wants to either work on their idea, by way of formal coaching and access to the online toolkit, or just hang out with other entrepreneurs and engage in our activities & events. We help to shape your idea!

SHAPE YOUR
IDEAS HERE

So, we heard you have an idea -
let’s develop it!

  • Your One-stop solution for Idea Development

Our Idea Lab is literally a space for students to congregate, experiment, be coached, listen to speakers, and think through the topics related to ideation, value-creation, market validation, business modeling, and taking risks.

  • Get involved

The Idea Lab @ BCEx comes equipped with a series of events (formal and informal) and, for those that want to, an online toolkit that is basically a step-by-step process for how to take your business idea to market with little to no money.

  • A pathway to funding

For those that need start-up funds, our Idea Lab is also the place that will prepare you to pitch for seed money from the JDA Venture Fund.

Interested? We’D recommend Starting with our Online curriculum & Entrepreneurship Toolkit

Join a group of students and committed faculty in making your business or social venture a reality. The online toolkit mirrors that of programs like lean launch pad, and udacity’s how to build a startup. The program consists of three phases and takes anywhere from 3 to 6 months to complete, depending on student’s interest and commitment.

toolkit: phase 1

Getting started: Who am I & why am I here?

Discover your purpose in life and how your idea may or may not fit in to that vision. Validate your idea and test market opportunity.

toolkit: phase 2

Finding Clients, donors & users before launch

Discover how to de-risk your business model. Discuss social modeling and begin to engage in rapid prototyping for accelerating your product and finding market fit.

toolkit: phase 3

preparing for success & launch

Discover further how to de-risk your ideas, create fans, develop sound financial models, and de-risk them. Prepare to pitch for seed money from the JDA Student Venture fund.
